What a week!

Happy Friday Families!

It has been a fun and quick week! We hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend :) Our classes are loving the little chill in the air and we don't know about you...but we are ready for fall weather!

This week we took our iReady tests in both Reading and Math. The kids did AWESOME. They all tried their hardest and took their time. We are looking forward to sharing their scores and goals with you at conferences!

In Reading, we finished up our book "The Gasping Garbage" and had great discussions about how the author developed each character. We will continue to work on how authors' use character actions, dialogue and details to impact the sequence of events in stories.

In Writing, the students are finishing up their narratives that they created. Oh my gosh, they are creative! We are continuing to work on how to incorporate dialogue and details into our stories. We are looking forward to sharing our hard work!

In Social Studies, we are working on learning about the seven continents and five oceans. If you get a chance this weekend, see if your third grader can name all seven continents and five oceans. BONUS: See if they can tell you WHERE each ocean is located :)

In Math, we tackled multi-digit subtraction this week. We are currently working on subtracting across zeros. This might be a challenge for them in their homework this week, but encourage them to draw a proof drawing with the equation to help them "visualize" the problem.

Your child will be coming home with a fundraiser packet today. Please look over the information and encourage your student to participate!

A few reminders:

-Homework (Reading Log and Math Packet) is due every Friday morning!

-Encourage your student to bring a water bottle to school.

-Encourage your student to bring a snack to tie them over until our late lunch.

Let us know if you have any questions! :) Hope you all have a great weekend!
