Labor Day Weekend

Hello Families!

Hope you all had a great week. Below are some updates about this past week :)

In reading we continued to read "The Gasping Garbage." As readers we are learning about how authors use characters' actions to impact the sequence of events in a story.

In writing the students are in the middle of creating their own narrative. They each created a character, developed a problem and are in the process of using dialogue, details and temporal words to come to the solution. They are doing absolutely fantastic and we can't wait to share it with you!

In math we are learning how to add amounts involving money. We are incorporating our place value drawings in this process, as well as having great discussions about different ways of solving addition problems.

A few reminders:

-There is no school on Monday because of Labor Day! We are looking forward to seeing all the kids on Tuesday :)

-Tuesday, September 5th will be our first iReady test of the year. The kids will be tested in reading first and in math on Friday, September 8th. Please remind your kids to get some rest this weekend and to try their best! We will be looking at the results of the test as a class with a growth mindset.

-Wednesday, September 6th is LATE START. Students are to be at school by at 10:50am. We will meet our new buddy class and we are looking forward to building new relationships across the building!

Thank you again for all of your support! Please let us know if you have any questions! Have a great Labor Day weekend!
